National Bank of Slovakia

The National Bank of Slovakia's headquarters is a tall office building with 33 floors above ground and three levels below, rising more than 100 meters into the Bratislava skyline. The tower combines reinforced concrete and glass in a modern form, shaping the appearance of the Old Town area.

Construction began in 1996 as a response to Slovakia's newly gained independence, and the building opened its doors in early 2002. The project marked an important step in building a separate financial infrastructure for the young nation.

The building was designed as a symbol of Slovakia's economic independence after the country separated from Czechoslovakia in 1992. The architects wanted to show that Slovakia was ready to be a modern and self-reliant nation.

The building can be admired from the outside and offers a good view of the city's modern architecture. Visitors can explore the surroundings and view the design from different angles, which works especially well from nearby streets in the Old Town center.

Inside the tower sits a green courtyard that breaks up the hard lines of financial architecture with plants and natural elements. This hidden garden shows how modern office design can also make room for greenery and nature.
