Zádielska tiesňava

Zádielska tiesňava is a limestone gorge carved by a small stream with caves and cascades along its passage. The terrain features tall rock walls and established trails for visitors to follow.

This region received protected status in the 1950s to safeguard its geological structures and biodiversity. That designation reflected the growing recognition of its environmental value.

Local residents from nearby villages view this gorge as an integral part of their natural surroundings and heritage. People use the trails for daily walks and to connect between settlements.

Entry points are near the village of Turna nad Bodvou, where clearly marked routes begin into the reserve. The paths are open year-round but may become slippery after heavy rain.

At one point the gorge narrows to less than 15 meters wide, creating the most confined natural passage in the entire Slovak Karst. This tight section gives the place its distinctive character.
