Palffy palace

Palffy Palace is a three-story baroque building with a basement located in the Old Town, distinguished by a grand entrance portal decorated with a military relief. The structure contains archaeological finds from earlier periods housed in its lower level.

Count Leopold Pálffy commissioned construction of the building in 1747 during the reign of Empress Maria Theresa, reflecting the baroque architectural style of that era. The structure remained significant through subsequent centuries as ownership and use changed hands over time.

The palace now serves as part of the city gallery, where visitors encounter artworks spanning from historical periods to contemporary creations. The rooms function as exhibition spaces that reflect how locals and tourists engage with both heritage and modern artistic expressions.
