Dobrá Voda Castle, Gothic castle ruin in Trnava District, Slovakia
Dobrá Voda Castle ruins sit on a rocky outcrop in the Little Carpathians, displaying preserved towers and fortification walls. The remains reveal how a medieval fortress was structured with its defensive elements and stone construction.
The castle was built between 1275 and 1300 by Comes Aba as a strategic fortress in the region. A major fire in 1762 caused its decline and ended its active use.
The castle displays early Gothic features visible in the masonry and distinctly designed towers. These architectural details reflect how people built fortifications during medieval times in this region.
The site is reachable via a marked hiking trail from Dobrá Voda village. Parking is available near the municipal church, and the paths to the ruins are easy to walk.
The name comes from the many water springs in the area, with Dobrá Voda meaning good water in Slovak. This natural water source likely influenced why the fortress was built at this location.
