Vápeč

Vápeč is a limestone summit in the Strážov Mountains that rises to about 1000 meters. From the peak, views extend across multiple Carpathian ridges and valleys below.

The peak served as a natural boundary between different Slovak regions since medieval times, helping travelers navigate mountain passages. This role shaped local geography for centuries.

Local mountaineering groups organize regular gatherings at Vápeč summit, maintaining traditions of mountain climbing and nature appreciation in Slovakia.

Reaching the summit requires moderate fitness and takes about three hours from the nearest parking area. Wear proper hiking boots and bring weather-appropriate clothing, as conditions at elevation can change quickly.

The rock surface displays visible fossils and traces of marine life from the Mesozoic era. These geological remains are noticeable to anyone visiting the summit.
