Arborétum Borová hora is a garden and nature reserve in Zvolen District that spreads across the southwestern slopes of Zvolen Upland. The grounds display tree species, flowering plants, and collections of cacti from different regions.
The site was founded in 1965 and received protected status as a nature reserve in 1981. This designation reflected the growing importance of preserving natural habitats in the region.
The facility functions as an educational and research center for the Technical University in Zvolen, contributing to botanical knowledge and preservation.
The garden is open from March through October on weekdays, with pathways leading through different sections of trees and flowers. Wear sturdy shoes as the terrain is hilly with varied elevations.
The collection includes more than 600 rose varieties bred by Czechoslovak growers. It also maintains a significant collection of around 700 cacti species from Mexico and South America.
