Val obrů

The Wall of Giants extends across 60 kilometers through Slovakia, featuring earthen mounds reinforced with stones along the western banks of Hron and Ipel rivers.

The first written record of this structure dates to the 13th century, when it was documented as Fossa Giganteum, with dimensions reaching 16 meters in width and 8 meters in height.

Local folklore attributes the construction to supernatural beings, while researchers connect the structure to Old-Dutch mythological songs mentioning giants in the region.

The best preserved sections of the rampart remain near Pečenice village, where visitors can observe the current dimensions of 15 meters width and 3 meters height.

Archaeological discoveries near the wall revealed graves containing human remains of individuals who were notably taller than the average population of that period.
