Ostrá Malenica

Ostrá Malenica is a 909-meter peak in the Strážovské vrchy mountain range with dense forests and dolomite rock formations covering its slopes. The terrain offers several hiking routes that cross the mountain and provide different views of the surrounding landscape.

The mountain attracted several botanists including Anton Rochel, Karol Brančík, and Jozef Ľudovít Holuby for scientific research. These historical visits highlight the scientific importance of the area during the 19th century.

The summit forms part of CHKO Strážovské vrchy protected area, preserving the natural heritage of the Slovak mountain landscape.

Marked hiking trails connect the summit to nearby villages including Slopná and Mojtín with varying route options. The best time to hike is during warmer months when the paths are dry and easy to walk.

From certain locations on the summit, visitors can observe multiple mountain ranges including the Biele Karpaty and Javorníky toward the western horizon. This distant view makes the mountain a good spot for observing the regional geography.
