Duck Fountain, Bratislava

The Duck Fountain is a water feature in Safárikovo Square with a central arrangement of duck statues surrounded by water jets. The composition serves as a visual centerpiece of the public square and functions as part of the city's practical infrastructure.

Robert Kühmayer designed and built this fountain in 1914 during a period of urban modernization under Austro-Hungarian rule. His creation emerged when new public spaces and monuments were reshaping the city's appearance.

The fountain displays figures from local tales about duck herders and a mischievous goblin that people in the region still talk about today. This representation connects craftsmanship to the city's heritage and invites visitors to learn about the folk stories woven into the place.
