Tanád

Tanád is a summit in the Štiavnické vrchy mountains featuring two peaks, one with a geodetic marker and the other displaying ancient ruins. These dual crests create a distinctive silhouette across the landscape.

The peak once held a defensive tower during medieval times, serving as a strategic observation post over mining activities in the region. This fortification demonstrates the historical importance of controlling this vantage point.

The mountain intersects with four different trail networks, including educational paths that showcase the region's geological heritage through the European Union-funded GEOPARK initiative.

The most direct route climbs from Horná Rovno using a yellow-marked trail and takes around 30 minutes to reach the summit. The unforested peak remains accessible throughout the year with clear views from above.

On clear days, visitors from the open summit can see distant mountain ranges including Inovec, Vtácnik, and Polana stretching across the horizon. This far-reaching visibility makes the location special for observers seeking broader vistas.
