Pamätník Slavín, pamätník s terasou, Soviet military memorial with terrace in Bratislava, Slovakia.
The memorial stands on a hilltop and features a 130-foot (39.5-meter) obelisk topped by a 23-foot (7-meter) statue of a Soviet soldier overlooking the city.
Built between 1957 and 1960, the site commemorates more than 6,800 Soviet soldiers who died liberating Bratislava from Nazi occupation in April 1945.
The memorial serves as a gathering place for annual ceremonies on liberation anniversary dates, attended by government officials and foreign delegations paying their respects.
Visitors can reach the site by public bus or on foot from the city center, and the terrace offers expansive views across Bratislava and the surrounding region.
During construction, authorities demolished a historic church tower to preserve unobstructed views of the monument, a decision that sparked protests from the sculptor himself.
