Protiturecká Tower

Protiturecká Tower is a Renaissance stone watchtower standing on Strázavar Hill in Krupina. The structure rises about 12 meters with a quadrilateral base and three internal floors, topped by a shingled roof with wooden gallery at its highest level.

The tower was built in 1564 during the Ottoman threat and served as part of an alert network for the region. Armed guards stationed here watched for approaching danger and relayed warnings to surrounding settlements.

The tower shows how people in this region organized defense during the Renaissance period. Its narrow observation slits and elevated hilltop position reveal how watchers could monitor a vast territory from a single point.

You reach the tower by climbing modern exterior stairs that lead to the observation platform at the top. From there, you can see across the Krupinica river valley and the surrounding landscape.

The original 16th century elements have survived in surprisingly good condition, including the shingled roof and ground-level storage compartment. These details show the craftsmanship of that era and are rarely preserved in their original form.
