Dūr-Katlimmu, Archaeological site in Deir ez-Zor Governorate, Syria.

Tell Sheikh Hamad settlement stands on the eastern bank of the Khabur River, containing remains of ancient structures and fortification walls.

The site transformed from a Mitanni Empire settlement to an Assyrian provincial capital under Shalmaneser I during the 13th century BC.

Excavations revealed 550 cuneiform Akkadian texts and 40 Aramaic texts, documenting administrative practices of the Neo-Assyrian period.

French archaeologists continue research at the site despite regional challenges, focusing on documenting architectural features and artifact preservation.

Building F/W spans 3,768 square meters with 50 rooms, representing one of the largest discovered administrative structures in Syrian archaeological sites.
