River Kwai bridge, Railway bridge in Kanchanaburi, Thailand.

The steel and concrete bridge spans across the Kwai river, featuring two main sections that allow trains to cross between Thailand and Myanmar.

Built in 1943 by Allied prisoners and Asian laborers under Japanese control, this bridge formed part of the 415-kilometer railway connecting Thailand to Burma.

The bridge gained worldwide recognition through Pierre Boulle's 1952 novel and the subsequent 1957 film adaptation directed by David Lean.

Visitors can walk on the bridge and take a train ride across it during the daily service between Thonburi and Nam Tok stations.

The bridge incorporates materials from a dismantled structure in Indonesia and includes parts of the original wartime construction after post-war repairs.
