Si Thep historical park

The historical park spans 4.7 square kilometers with ancient structures, temples, monuments, and archaeological findings dating from the third to thirteenth centuries.

The settlement evolved from a prehistoric farming village into a major city-state during the first millennium, controlling important trade routes across Southeast Asia.

The archaeological remains demonstrate the influences of Hinduism, Mahayana Buddhism, Sanskrit writings, and connections with Indian cultural traditions through artifacts and architecture.

The site received 20,000 visitors in one weekend after its UNESCO designation in September 2023, indicating the need for improved infrastructure and waste management.

The Khao Klang Nok monument within the park has endured for over a thousand years while different kingdoms and empires changed around it.
