Windsor Palace, Royal palace in Wang Mai, Bangkok, Thailand
Windsor Palace was a royal residence in Wang Mai featuring Gothic and traditional Thai elements distributed across halls, gardens, and ceremonial spaces. The grounds contained multiple buildings and outdoor areas that together formed an expansive complex.
The palace was built as a residence for Crown Prince Maha Vajirunhis and served the royal family until his passing. The land later passed to Chulalongkorn University before eventually being transformed for sporting facilities.
The palace took its name from Windsor Castle in England and blended European architectural styles with Thai design traditions. This fusion was visible in the rooms and gardens, which once gave visitors insight into royal life and taste.
The site is located in central Bangkok and was once easily accessible by public transport. Since the original grounds no longer exist, visitors can instead see the modern sports stadiums and university facilities that now occupy the space.
The entire grounds were demolished to make way for two major sports stadiums that remain active today. This complete transformation shows how dramatically the site's purpose changed over the decades.
