Bangkok Art and Culture Centre, Contemporary art museum in Wang Mai, Thailand
Bangkok Art and Culture Centre is a contemporary art museum in Wang Mai housed in a nine-story cylindrical building. A spiral walkway connects exhibition rooms, gallery levels and performance areas throughout each floor.
The center opened in 2008 after years of planning by the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration and Thai Artists' Network. Its opening marked the city's push to create a central public space for contemporary art and creative events.
Rotating exhibitions of paintings, sculptures, photographs and multimedia work from Thai and international artists fill the galleries year-round. Upper floors host small studios where visitors can watch artists at work during workshops and open sessions.
The museum sits near National Stadium BTS station and opens Tuesday through Sunday from ten in the morning until nine at night. Admission to general exhibitions is free, though some special events require separate tickets.
Beyond exhibitions, the building holds an art library, film screening rooms and small shops run by local designers. The ground floor hosts cafés and a bookshop, while upper levels hold studios and independent galleries.
