Elephant Building, High-rise building in Chom Phon, Thailand
The Elephant Building is a high-rise structure in Chom Phon made up of three connected towers that form an elephant shape with distinct eyes, tusks, and trunk. The 32-story complex combines office space, apartments, retail areas, and services all in one location.
The architect Ong-ard Satrabhandhu designed and completed this structure in 1997 during a period of rapid urban growth in Bangkok. It emerged when bold architectural forms began appearing across Thailand's expanding cityscape.
The elephant shape reflects a respected symbol in Thai society, integrated into the building's basic structure. Visitors can see how this design choice connects the workplace and residential spaces to local values and meaning.
The complex sits close to Phahon Yothin Road and is easy to reach by public transport and nearby bus stops. Shops, restaurants, and everyday services are located throughout the site for convenient access.
Two of its towers house office spaces while the third tower contains apartments, and at the upper levels these three sections connect to form the elephant shape. This functional separation allows the office and residential areas to operate independently while creating one unified visual symbol.
