Mueang Fa Daet, Archaeological site in Kamalasai District, Thailand.
Mueang Fa Daet is an archaeological complex located near the Pao River featuring three concentric defensive moats surrounding the site. The area contains the remains of brick structures and burial grounds spanning different historical periods.
The site originated in the 7th century and grew into an important center for Buddhist worship during the Dvaravati period. Over the centuries, the use of the land shifted until it was eventually abandoned.
The site shows the importance of Buddhism in ancient times through its many stone markers and brick bases dedicated to religious purposes. These religious objects remain visible today and reveal the beliefs of the people who lived here.
The site is freely accessible and maintained by the Fine Arts Department without any entrance fees. Visitors can walk through the grounds to explore the ancient structures from different angles and vantage points.
Excavations have uncovered burial jars containing pottery, iron tools, and ornamental items from different time periods. These discoveries show that the site was used by people across many centuries.
