Phaya Thai, Administrative district in central Bangkok, Thailand
Phaya Thai is an administrative district in central Bangkok divided into two sub-districts: Sam Sen Nai and Phaya Thai. The area blends residential neighborhoods with business zones and multiple government offices.
The district was established in 1966 from parts of Dusit and Bang Kapi districts, with a major boundary change in 1978. This restructuring shaped its current form and administrative role.
Several government institutions occupy this area, shaping daily life for residents and establishing the district as an administrative hub.
The district is served by three BTS Skytrain stations: Sanam Pao, Ari, and Saphan Khwai, making travel across the city straightforward. These stops provide easy connections to different parts of Bangkok.
The area also contains the Thai Philatelic Museum located behind the Sam Sen Nai post office, housing stamp collections and postal history. This small museum often escapes visitor attention but reveals interesting aspects of Thailand's communications heritage.
