Khlong San District

Khlong San is a district on the west bank of the Chao Phraya River in Bangkok, featuring a mix of residential neighborhoods, markets, temples, and modern shopping centers along the riverfront. Narrow alleyways wind through older quarters, while wider streets lead to newer developments and commercial areas.

The area was established in 1916 under the name Bang Lamphu Lang, functioning as a major transportation hub with the Maeklong railway terminus. This rail connection shaped early development until the line closed in 1961.

Local temples like Wat Anongkharam and Wat Phichai Yat show traditional Thai architecture and religious practices in an urban setting. These sacred spaces shape daily life, and you can see worshippers and religious ceremonies happening throughout the year.

Multiple transport options connect the district to central Bangkok, including ferry services and BTS Skytrain stations at Krung Thonburi and Wongwian Yai. Visitors should know that the area is quieter in evenings and early mornings, with markets and shops most active in the afternoon.

Princess Mother Memorial Park honors King Bhumibol Adulyadej's mother and features gardens with exhibitions about the royal family. This park draws fewer crowds than other royal memorials in Bangkok, offering a quieter place to walk and discover local history.
