Pata Zoo is a collection of animals housed within two floors of a department store in central Bangkok. The sixth floor holds reptiles and nocturnal creatures, while the seventh floor features larger mammals in enclosed spaces.
This facility opened in 1983 as part of the department store development in the city. It was created as an experimental blend of retail and animal housing within an urban building.
Animal rights advocates in Thailand have brought attention to the living conditions of the animals, particularly focusing on the gorilla Bua Noi.
The zoo is accessible by public transport, with the Bang Phlat station nearby for easy access. Plan adequate time to explore both floors at a comfortable pace without rushing through.
The facility houses Bua Noi, a female eastern gorilla who has lived there since 1987 and remains the last gorilla in Thailand.
