Prannok Pier

Prannok Pier, pier number N10, is a pier on the Chao Phraya River

Prannok Pier is a functional wooden and concrete landing on the Chao Phraya River in Bangkok. The pier has two dock areas: one for the Chao Phraya Express and northbound boats, and another for ferries crossing to the opposite bank near the Grand Palace and other major spots.

The pier was built as a traditional landing point and has long served Bangkok's river transport system. In 1995, a tragic incident occurred when a boat platform collapsed under the weight of many passengers, resulting in 29 deaths, marking a significant moment in the site's history.

The name Prannok comes from the Thai word for 'hunter,' reflecting the area's past. Today, the pier is woven into everyday Bangkok life, where locals pass through regularly and traditional river travel remains part of the city's routine.

The pier is easy to reach by taxi or bus, with the Bang Khun Non MRT station nearby for walking access. It is best to arrive in early morning or late afternoon to avoid rush hour crowds and to catch boats heading to various destinations like the Grand Palace and other attractions.

The pier is also known as Tha Wang Lang and is marked as stop number N10 along the river route, helping travelers locate their position. The nearby Wang Lang Market is a vibrant local gathering spot with street stalls visited by hospital staff and residents, offering an authentic glimpse into daily neighborhood life.
