Khao Luang cave

The limestone cave contains multiple chambers with natural light filtering through openings in the ceiling, illuminating numerous Buddha statues throughout the space.

King Mongkut spent time in this cave during his years as a monk, using the space for meditation and religious study in the 19th century.

More than 180 Buddha statues representing different stages of life stand within the cave, alongside pagodas where monks perform regular religious ceremonies.

Visitors should arrive early in the morning to experience optimal natural lighting conditions and bring water for the uphill walk to the entrance.

A natural opening in the cave ceiling creates a beam of light that falls directly onto a three-meter-high golden Buddha statue in the main chamber.
