Wat Khao Ban Dai It

Wat Khao Ban Dai It is a Buddhist temple built into a limestone cave north of Phetchaburi city. The complex contains multiple connected chambers filled with Buddha statues and religious installations throughout its passages.

The temple was established by monk Luang Po Saeng during the Ayutthaya period when he discovered this sacred cave site. Many of the Buddha statues inside date back to this era of Thai Buddhism.

The cave chambers serve as active prayer and meditation spaces for visitors and local devotees. Each room functions as a place where people come to practice their Buddhist faith and leave offerings.

Stairs and paved pathways guide visitors through the cave chambers comfortably. Wear suitable footwear as the terrain is uneven, and keep an eye on local macaques during your visit.

One chamber called Tham Ruesi features an unusual depiction of an ancient hermit figure wearing a hat and striped clothing. This playful artistic touch adds an unexpected layer to the sacred site.
