Bou-Hedma National Park

The second largest natural park in Tunisia spans 16,448 hectares between the governorates of Gafsa and Sidi Bouzid, featuring diverse landscapes and environments.

Established on December 18, 1980, the park contains remnants of Roman settlements, including ancient pools, bridges, and sections of an aqueduct system.

The park represents a connection between traditional North African conservation methods and modern ecological management approaches through its preservation of native species.

Located 85 kilometers east of Gafsa and 105 kilometers west of Sfax, the park maintains protected areas for scientific research and educational programs.

The park contains one of North Africa's last remaining natural savannahs and serves as a sanctuary for reintroduced species like the scimitar oryx and addax.
