Ksar Ouled Soltane, Fortified granary in Tataouine Governorate, Tunisia.

Ksar Ouled Soltane is a fortified granary in Tataouine Governorate built from mud and clay materials. The structure spans approximately 60 meters long and 40 meters wide, with multiple tiers of storage chambers stacked to maximize space.

The structure was built in the 15th century to protect grain supplies and defend against raids. It became an important defensive location for communities living in this region during that era.

The storage rooms, called ghorfas, show building techniques passed down through generations by local families. Each household kept their own chambers to protect grain and valuable supplies from the harsh desert conditions.

The site is generally accessible and can be reached by local transport from Tataouine. A guide is recommended to navigate the chambers and understand the layout of the different levels.

This location was used as a film set for Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace. The connection to this famous movie has brought visitors from around the world to see the actual site.
