Ksar Ouled Soltane

The oval fortification spans 60 meters in length and 40 meters in width, featuring multiple levels of mud-constructed storage chambers called ghorfas.

Built during the 15th century by Amazigh communities, this granary fortress provided protection against raids while storing grain supplies for local populations.

The design of storage units reflects traditional Amazigh architectural methods, with each family maintaining their own designated space within the structure.

Visitors can access the site at any time through local transportation services from Tataouine, with guided tours available throughout the complex.

The location served as a filming site for Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace, representing the slave quarters of Anakin Skywalker.
