Çatalhöyük, Neolithic site in Turkey
Çatalhöyük is a large Neolithic and Chalcolithic proto-city settlement in southern Anatolia, which existed from approximately 7500 BC to 5700 BC.
It is the largest and best-preserved Neolithic site found to date.
The culture of Çatalhöyük was a society which was mainly agricultural and used animals such as the aurochs and the wild boar.
The site is located in the Konya Plain, in the central part of Turkey.
Çatalhöyük is characterized by a unique form of community organization; the houses were built very close together with no streets between them.
