Nevalı Çori, Archaeological site in Turkey
Nevalı Çori was an early Neolithic settlement that existed from around 8400 to 8000 BC.
It was discovered by German archaeologist Harald Hauptmann in the late 1970s.
The site is notable for its T-shaped pillars, similar to those found at the later site of Göbekli Tepe.
The original site is now under the waters of the Atatürk Dam.
Nevalı Çori is one of the oldest known organized human settlements.
