Nymphaeum Traiani, Monumental fountain in ancient Ephesus, Turkey.
The Nymphaeum Traiani features a rectangular basin measuring 11.90 by 5.40 meters, framed by a three-sided facade reaching 9.50 meters in height.
Archaeological excavations in 1957 revealed this fountain complex, constructed between 102 and 114 AD during Emperor Trajan's reign in ancient Ephesus.
The fountain structure displays statues of Dionysus, Aphrodite, a satyr, and members of the imperial family within its decorative niches.
Located on Curetes Street in Ephesus archaeological site, visitors can observe the remaining architectural elements and water collection system throughout the year.
An inscription on the architrave reveals that Tiberius Claudius Aristion and his wife Iulia Lydia Laterane funded this fountain as a gift to Artemis and Emperor Trajan.
