Wufeng District is an administrative area in southern Taichung combining residential neighborhoods with agricultural lands across approximately 98 square kilometers. The district blends urban infrastructure with rural surroundings, creating a mixed suburban character.
The area was originally known as Atabu and served as an agricultural settlement during the Qing dynasty. Over time it developed into a modern district as Taichung expanded and urbanized.
The Lin Family Mansion and Garden preserves traditional Taiwanese architecture with historical living spaces and ornate garden designs. Visitors can observe how wealthy families organized their homes and decorated their surroundings during the Qing period.
Visitors access the district via National Freeways 3 and 6, which connect it to central Taichung. Regular bus services link major destinations throughout and beyond the area.
The 921 Earthquake Museum preserves the former Guangfu Junior High School with visible structural damage from the 1999 earthquake event. The damaged buildings remain on-site to show visitors the force of this natural disaster.
