Description
Puli Township occupies a basin at roughly 500 meters elevation and marks Taiwan's geographical center. Mountains encircle the area, shaping the landscape around the settlement.
History
The settlement was called Posia in the 19th century and held the Atayal indigenous name Sabaha Bakalas. It became Hori Town during Japanese administration.
Culture
Christianity arrived in 1870 through a local resident named Khai-san and shaped the community's identity. Religious buildings and practices remain visible parts of daily life here.
Practical
National Highway 6 connects the township to western cities, and buses run regularly from Taichung Station to various stops around the area. Local bus lines help you reach different neighborhoods and points of interest.
