Madou District is an administrative area in Tainan City located on flat land along the Zengwun River in southern Taiwan. The district is organized into several villages and settlements spread across the region.
The area was known as Mattau in the 17th century during Taiwan's early colonial period and later developed into an important agricultural center. The region sustained farming traditions that continue to shape its character today.
The district sustains traditional farming practices, with farmers managing sweet potatoes, sugarcane, and rice fields while operating direct-to-consumer pomelo warehouses throughout the region.
The district is connected by the Jhongshan Freeway with various exits and provincial roads linking it to other parts of Taiwan. Visitors can explore the area best by car or using local bus connections.
The district produces Taiwan's largest quantity of Wundan Pomelos, with spring blooms and autumn harvests creating seasonal agricultural events for the 47,210 residents.
