Huwei Township

Huwei Township spans across 69 square kilometers of land in western Taiwan, accommodating a population of 77,513 residents as recorded in 2020.

The area originated from Favorolang, one of the largest aboriginal settlements during the Dutch colonial period in Taiwan during the 17th century.

The township maintains 29 distinct villages, each with their own local traditions, while supporting educational institutions such as the National Formosa University.

The Taiwan High Speed Rail Yunlin Station in Huwei provides direct transportation connections to major cities throughout the western corridor of Taiwan.

The Huwei Sugar Factory stands as a monument to the region's industrial heritage, earning the township its designation as the Sugar Capital.
