Chengkungling Barracks

Chengkungling Barracks is a military training facility in Taichung that covers a broad area with training grounds, accommodation blocks, and administrative structures. The complex serves both active soldiers during basic instruction and reservists who return for regular refresher courses.

The base was established in the mid-20th century as Taiwan built up its defense infrastructure after relocating the government. Since then, it has trained thousands of conscripts and continues to prepare soldiers for service in the Republic of China Army.

The base takes its name from a Chinese term meaning Success Ridge, chosen to symbolize achievement in military training. Visitors to the onsite museum can see uniforms and equipment that show how Taiwan's armed forces evolved over decades.

Access to the grounds is restricted to military personnel and authorized visitors, though the museum can be toured with prior approval. Anyone planning a visit should contact the relevant authorities well in advance and bring valid identification documents.

The barracks house their own medical center that provides both routine checkups and emergency care for soldiers during training cycles. This facility has been upgraded over the years to meet the standards of military healthcare provision.
