Yongchunpi Wetland Park, Ecological wetland park in Xinyi District, Taiwan
Yongchunpi Wetland Park is a protected natural area in Xinyi featuring wooden boardwalks, viewing platforms, and multiple water basins that support various wildlife. The grounds span about 3.9 hectares of habitat with different zones for visitors to explore.
The site originated as a water storage basin during the Qing Dynasty but was converted into a coal mining zone during Japanese occupation. After that period, the land underwent restoration to become the nature preserve visitors see today.
The name reflects the area's past, and you can see locals walking and gathering here as part of their daily routine. The place feels alive with natural sounds and the simple rhythm of people spending time in this green space.
Access is available at any time and free of charge, with parking available on-site and good public transportation connections nearby. The pathways are well marked, making it easy for visitors to navigate different areas of the grounds.
The grounds function as a flood control system for Taipei, absorbing water that would otherwise overwhelm the city's infrastructure. At the same time, it harbors numerous bird species that make it a favored spot for bird watchers.
