Irpin

Irpin is a residential town north of Kyiv along the river that shares its name, spreading across both banks. Parks and green areas sit between the buildings, breaking up the housing blocks with open spaces throughout.

Railway workers founded the settlement in 1899 during the construction of the Kyiv–Kovel line as a passing loop station. Over the following decades, it grew beyond this initial function and developed into a community in its own right.

The University of State Fiscal Service educates future finance and economics professionals, bringing students who shape the daily rhythm of cafés and streets. Their presence adds energy to the community and keeps the educational tradition alive in the area.

Reconstruction of damaged infrastructure and housing continues with international support, changing the appearance of many streets. Visitors should expect construction activity and check local conditions for access to specific areas and facilities before planning their route.

In March 2022, the municipality received the title Hero City of Ukraine for its resistance during the fighting around Kyiv. This recognition reminds residents and visitors of the events that have deeply changed life here.
