Vyzhnytsia National Nature Park is a protected area in the Bukovinian Carpathians in western Ukraine, covering forested mountain slopes, wide river valleys, and several waterfalls. The terrain shifts from gentle hillsides to steeper rocky ridges, with dense forest covering most of the land.
The park was established in 1995 to protect the natural landscapes of the Bukovinian Carpathians. Long before that, the land had been farmed and settled by mountain communities, leaving traces that are still visible across the area today.
The Hutsul people have lived in this mountain region for centuries, and their way of life is still visible in the villages around the park. Wooden churches, carved fences, and traditional house styles give a clear sense of how people have built and lived here over generations.
The park administration center in Berehomet is the best starting point for getting information on trails and access. Paths vary a lot in length and difficulty, so it is worth planning a route before setting out.
The park sits at the boundary of two geobotanical zones, which helps explain why it shelters around 960 vascular plant species. Among them are rare orchid populations that can be spotted while walking through the forest areas.
