Morshyn, city of Ukraine
Morshyn is a small spa town in Stryi Raion, Lviv Oblast, in western Ukraine. It sits among forests close to the Carpathian foothills, with the Berezhnytsia River passing through, and is built around its natural mineral springs.
The town was first recorded in 1482 in court documents, when it was part of the Polish Kingdom. In the late 19th century it began to grow as a spa resort after a doctor named Dzikowski documented the healing properties of the local springs.
The town is known as a spa destination, and visitors come to drink the mineral waters at the pump rooms, which are open throughout the day. The habit of taking the waters is deeply woven into the daily life here, giving the place a slow and restorative rhythm.
The town is easy to reach from Lviv by train or bus, and it offers a range of places to stay, from simple guesthouses to larger spa hotels. Anyone planning to drink the mineral water should first consult a doctor, as the correct amount varies from person to person.
The mineral water drawn here is bottled and sold across Ukraine under the name Morshynska, making it one of the most recognized water brands in the country. The main pump room building, locally called the Mushroom because of its shape, was built in 1935 and is still in use today.
