Klov Palace, Architectural heritage monument in Pechersk District, Kyiv, Ukraine
Klov Palace is a three-story building with yellow and white facades, symmetrical wings, and detailed architectural ornaments throughout. Today it houses the Supreme Court and sits within a formal administrative quarter surrounded by government buildings.
Construction took place between 1753 and 1761 under commission from a nearby monastery, with the original purpose of hosting visits from Russian imperial guests. Over the centuries, its function shifted to serve as a major government institution.
The building displays Ukrainian Baroque design with traditional decorative elements found throughout its rooms. Inside, you can see how the interiors reflect the tastes and living standards of the 18th-century elite.
The building sits in the central administrative district and is easily reached by public transport. Access inside is limited since it is an active government building, but the exterior and surrounding architecture are clearly visible from the street.
The grounds once contained extensive gardens with exotic fruits like tangerines and lemons not typically suited to the local climate. These plant collections reflected the wealth and botanical ambitions of those who occupied the building.
