The name Kaharlyk comes from Ukrainian and means "bright" or "shining," referring to a star or glowing light in the sky. The town has old churches that remain active today, where local families attend services and celebrate religious holidays throughout the year.
The city is easily reached by local buses or rental car and is not far from Kyiv. Simple hotels and guesthouses offer basic accommodation, and walking around is straightforward since the town is compact and easy to navigate.
A notable place is Troschinsky Park, created by Dmitry Troschinsky who was connected to the Russian court under Catherine the Great. The park features diverse tree species and old structures that connect visitors with the town's past.
