Donbass Palace, 5-star hotel in Donetsk, Ukraine
Donbass Palace is a five-star hotel on Artema Street in central Donetsk, Ukraine, with over a hundred rooms and a range of facilities including two restaurants, a spa with an indoor pool, a fitness center, a business center, and two event halls. The building occupies a prominent address in the heart of the city and is one of the largest hotel structures in the area.
The first Donbass Palace was completed in 1938 and operated as a hotel for several decades before being demolished in 2001. The current building opened in 2004, replacing the older structure on the same address.
The Donbass Palace is known locally as one of the most recognizable meeting points in central Donetsk, where visitors and residents come together for meals and events. Its position along one of the main streets makes it a natural reference point when moving around that part of the city.
The hotel sits in the center of Donetsk, making it easy to reach on foot from many parts of the city and well connected to local transport. Most theaters, shops, and other points of interest in the area are within a short walking distance.
When the old building was torn down in 2001, a time capsule was buried on the site, containing objects meant to commemorate the city and the hotel for people in the future. It was intended to be opened one day by later generations, linking the new structure to the moment it came into being.
