Donetsk State Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre named after A. Solovyanenko

The Donetsk State Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre is a performing arts venue in eastern Ukraine dedicated to opera and ballet productions. Its auditorium accommodates around 976 spectators and displays decorative sculptural busts of composers and poets throughout the interior.

The theatre opened in 1932 with Alexander Borodin's Prince Igor, establishing itself as an important arts institution in the region. During World War II, the company relocated temporarily to Kyrgyzstan to perform for military units, maintaining artistic work during the conflict.

The theatre keeps classical ballet and opera traditions alive through regular performances that remain central to the city's cultural life. Dancers and singers here maintain these art forms as part of their daily work and identity.
