Chortkiv Castle, Medieval fortification in Chortkiv, Ukraine.
The stone and brick fortress consists of three defensive towers positioned on elevated ground along the Seret River bank.
The castle, constructed in the early 17th century by Stanisław Golski, replaced a wooden fortress and withstood multiple attacks from Tatar raiders.
The castle structure incorporates Gothic and Renaissance architectural elements, reflecting the changing influences throughout western Ukrainian territories.
The castle belongs to the Castles of Ternopil Oblast National Reserve and remains accessible for visitors interested in medieval architecture.
The fortress contains a network of underground passages that, according to local accounts, extend beneath the river to the town of Bilche-Zolote.
