The museum occupies a former bank building from the early 20th century and contains approximately 17,000 exhibits highlighting regional development through different periods.
The museum, established in 1960, sustained severe damage during the 2022-2024 Russian military actions, leading to the evacuation of its collection to the Museum Fund of Ukraine.
The exhibits showcase the ancient history of the region, including artifacts from the Zaporozhian Cossacks period and details about peasant and burgher households.
