Donetsk botanic garden

The Donetsk Botanical Garden is a nature reserve in Ukraine featuring sections dedicated to trees, tropical plants, and local species from the region. The grounds span across multiple themed areas that visitors can walk through at their own pace.

The garden was founded in 1964 and became a research center focused on studying plant life in the region. Over time, its collections grew and the institution developed into an important scientific facility.

The garden maintains a herbarium of 126,400 specimens, including collections from Ukraine, Russia, Europe, Central Asia, and Antarctica for educational purposes.

The garden sits within an urban area and is accessible by foot once you know where to find it. Comfortable walking shoes are recommended since the grounds offer extensive paths to explore.

The facility preserves 830 endangered plant species native to southeastern Ukraine, including specific varieties of Stipa, Veronica, and Galium genera.
