Kyrylivska Archaeological Site

Kyrylivska Archaeological Site is an excavation area in Kyiv that reveals multiple layers of remains from ancient settlements. The artifacts date from the first to fifth centuries and show how people lived in northeastern Ukraine during that period.

Researchers recognized the importance of this site in the late 1950s through work by Valentyn Danylenko. His investigations proved the existence of the Kyiv archaeological culture in the region.

The excavations uncovered jewelry pieces such as bronze fibulae, bracelets, and belt buckles that show connections to Roman craftsmanship techniques. These objects reveal how local artisans adopted designs and methods that traveled across distant regions.

The site requires ongoing preservation efforts and systematic research to document discoveries from different periods. Visitors should understand that this is an active research area where fieldwork continues regularly.

The location contains evidence of three distinct artistic traditions: Zarubyntsi, Chernyakhiv, and local elements. These three cultural streams blended together here and form a complete sequence of local development.
