Motronynske Hill Fort

Motronynske Hill Fort is a fortified settlement on elevated terrain with earthen ramparts, defensive ditches, and stone walls forming a circular perimeter around the central area. The structure displays typical features of a hilltop settlement with natural slopes used for defensive advantage.

The settlement was established during the early Iron Age and was primarily inhabited around the 8th century BC. Archaeological investigation shows that it experienced multiple phases of occupation and use.

The site reveals burial practices of pre-Scythian and Scythian peoples through pottery, weapons, and tomb arrangements discovered here. Visitors can observe how these early cultures honored their dead and what objects accompanied them to the afterlife.

This site sits on hilly terrain and is best explored on foot to fully grasp the fortification's structure. Weather can make the ground muddy, so sturdy footwear is recommended.

Excavations uncovered a burial complex containing an iron sword, a bone-handled knife, and a quiver with arrows arranged in specific positions around the deceased. This careful placement offers insight into the spiritual beliefs and burial rituals of the ancient cultures who lived here.
