Stanytsia Luhanska, Settlement near Siverskyi Donets River in Luhansk Oblast, Ukraine.
Stanytsia Luhanska is a rural settlement in eastern Ukraine situated near the Siverskyi Donets River. The community spans a compact area and serves as the center of its own settlement hromada in Luhansk Oblast.
This settlement was founded in 1688 as a Don Cossack outpost, preserving its historical roots to the present day. It served as the administrative center of its own district until 2020, when administrative reforms reshaped local governance structures.
The 2001 census revealed that 92.4 percent of residents spoke Russian as their primary language, while 6.2 percent communicated primarily in Ukrainian.
The settlement is located near several regional transportation hubs, making travel to larger cities possible. The flat terrain and proximity to a river shape accessibility and the experience of moving through the area.
This settlement is one of only a few surviving Don Cossack foundations within modern Ukraine's territory. This rare historical continuity makes the place of particular interest to visitors.
