Starokostiantyniv Castle

Starokostiantyniv Castle is a Renaissance fortress located where two rivers meet, built with five towers and an eight-story wooden watchtower standing within its protective walls. The defensive structures create a strong system that guards the inner courtyard and the church inside.

Prince Konstantin Wasyl Ostrogski built this fortress during the 1560s as a strategic defense against external attacks. The structure has defined the region's landscape since its construction and represents the architecture of that period.

The Trinity Church inside the walls displays frescoes from the 1500s and bears the original coat of arms of Prince Vasyl-Kostyantyn Ostrozky. These painted images show how important the place was to the ruling family of that era.

The site is easy to visit and offers guided tours through a local museum that explains the fortress history. It is wise to wear appropriate footwear since the historic ground is uneven and can become slippery when wet.

The walls have remained unconquered since their completion in 1575 and successfully defended against a massive siege in 1618. This unbroken defensive record makes them a noteworthy example of fortification design from that era.
